Mode of Action: Abamectin affects the nervous system of insects by binding to specific receptors called glutamate-gated chloride channels, leading to an increase in chloride ion influx and hyperpolarization of nerve cells. This disrupts neurotransmission, causing paralysis and eventual death of the target pests.
Target Pests: Abamectin is effective against a wide range of insect pests, including mites, leafminers, thrips, aphids, caterpillars, and other chewing and sucking insects.
Application: Abamectin 1.9 EC is typically applied as a foliar spray to the foliage of crops or plants where insect pests are present. It can also be applied as a soil drench or through chemigation (application through irrigation systems) for certain crops.
